The 2012 golf season at the Rock will include many opportunities to participate in competitive golfing events as we expand our tournaments and leagues. The formats, days, and times of all leagues will be determined by the players. All past and future golfers are welcome and encouraged to be involved!
For 2011, the Thursday format was somewhat patterned after the modern PGA Tour. Teams with two participants were handicapped based on their performance and competed in individual, weekly tournaments for weekly prizes. In addition, the teams earned points toward overall session, and entire-season prizes. Players and teams could participate in as many (or as few) of the weekly events as they desired. Weekly tournament prizes + several week session prizes + total season prizes were issued throughout the year.
A variety of play formats were used for weekly team competitions (all handicapped) including:
Team Combined Score, Team Scramble (team handicap developed), Team Best-Ball, Team Alternate Shot, Team Stableford System, etc.
League play was divided into weekly sessions of various length, depending on weather and other factors. At the end of each session, winners were declared, prizes allocated, and competition standings restarted. The Rock's intent is to have a program which is fair, honest, and gives golfers of all abilities the opportunity to compete and possibly end up in the proverbial "winner's circle."
We encourage you to participate and enjoy the chase for the "Rock Cup," just like the PGA folks go after the "FedEx Cup!"
